Deep Waters
An idyllic commune island … just don’t ask to leave
N.W Bulfin
Deep Waters is a mystery thriller with supernatural themes, where Ireland’s ancient lore is adapted to the modern novel. It is also a cautionary tale which reminds us that some things are too good to be true.
It is planned to be available later this year.

In near future Ireland, following his sister’s disappearance, Eoin Ryan, a former university lecturer ends up working in a soul-crushing call centre under a malevolent bully of a supervisor. It’s there the despondent young man is contacted by the enigmatic Nigel with an unusual job offer. A teaching position, but at the remote LIFFE eco-commune. Eager for a sense of purpose and to escape his toxic workplace, the usually reserved academic quickly agrees.
Eoin leaves Dublin, a city in the throes of a flooding emergency and travels west. But his desperation for a chance at something better leads him to a community steeped in mythology on the site of an ancient megalithic ruin. Here, secrets hang over the settlement like dark clouds and its inhabitants harbour dangerous ideas, and now, something else long dormant is beginning to stir.
When Eoin unravels the true purpose of his calling, he begins to question his decision to join the settlement. But on a rain-soaked island in the west of Ireland, surrounded by society’s misfits, he’ll soon realise that a change of heart can be murder.
